PTA Thrift Shop Launches Campaign to Build New Carrboro Facilities – Project will stimulate economy and means more money for schools, more recycling, and jobs – Carrboro, NC, June 2, 2011
On Tuesday, January 25th, 2010, the PTA Thrift Shop was awarded the 2010 Progress Energy Sustainable Business of the Year award at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting!
The finalists were: The PTA Thrift Shop, Inc., The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and Bland Landscaping Company.
It was a real honor just to be nominated, particularly when you consider just how many worthy organizations operate within our community. But to actually WIN this award is a huge thrill, and we’re anxious to get the word out to our patrons (and the community at large) as much as possible!
The trophy itself was designed and created by local artist/sculptor Mike Roig and it is a true work of art. Winners in other categories received plaques, but we feel that we received the coolest prize by far!
The trophy is on display in our Executive Office at 125 W. Main St., Suite 100 in Carrboro, and please feel free to drop by to see it anytime.
