Volunteer

Ambassador Program

Ambassadors are volunteers from the community or selected by each school's PTA who:

  1. Educate their school community and neighbors about the history and importance of the PTA Thrift Shop, and why supporting the PTA Thrift Shop is truly a win-win scenario for each school and the community.
  2. Advocate for the PTA Thrift Shop. This includes encouraging folks to shop at the PTA Thrift Shop or donate their used goods for re-sale to increase earned revenue we redistribute to local school. Ambassadors also organize special projects within their schools – like tag sales, paper grocery bag collection and holiday gift card drives – to benefit the PTA Thrift Shop.
  3. Communicate with their schools and the PTA Thrift Shop Director of Communications and Community Relations to make sure that important information is shared quickly and accurately.

Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Service Learning Program

The PTA Thrift Shop is excited to announce we are participating in the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Service Learning Hours Program for high school students grades 9-12. Each student in the CHCCS is required to achieve 25 Service Learning hours to receive their diploma. Service Learning hours are defined as hours that provide a teaching/learning method that connects meaningful community service experiences with academic learning, personal growth, and civic responsibility.
