PTA Thrift Shop Electronics Department Coordinator

The PTA Thrift Shop at is looking to hire a bright, cheerful, self-starting individual to work part time (20-30 hours a week) as a cosmonaut in the "gadget galaxy" section of our facility! Ideal candidate will have a high comfort level with all things digital as well as analog, and will feel right at home with both. Whether they are wiping hard drives and installing Microsoft word on a desktop, testing a vintage 1982 Colecovision game system or determining if a 1977 Technics turntable is fully operational and ready to spin plates, this person will take great joy in cleaning and testing the wide variety of electronic donations we receive, prepping those items for sale and being able to answer customer questions regarding those items.

Electronics are one of our most donated items, and a department we hope to maximize in the best interest of our charitable mission of making the largest annual donation possible each year to our local school system PTAs. This position will allow the employee to cultivate their knowledge and love of computers and electronic gadgets in a creative fashion while helping our customers have a pleasant and efficient shopping experience as well. Basic job responsibilities will include:

• Providing excellent customer service at all times
• Maintenance of a clean, organized and fully stocked electronic department on the sales floor
• Being available to answer technical questions and provide technical services to customers
• Observation of sales flow to determine highest priority items for sale
• Cashier Responsibilities
• Adherence to all policies and procedures
• Display courtesy to customers, donors and volunteers at all times

• Ability to interact positively with the public
• Understanding of process management
• Ability to ask for help and a willingness to take direction
• Ability to lift 30 pounds on a continual basis
• Availability to work Saturdays and Sundays
